HOUSE BILL 58
Out of committee (S 14th Ord)
School bond elections, dates
ELECTIONS – Amends existing law to remove school bond and levy election dates in August and March.
RS30075 / H0058
This legislation modifies Idaho code that relates to School Bond and Levy election dates. The changes to Idaho code would consolidate elections for bonds and levies with the May primaries and November general election, removing the March and August interim elections. The result is likely to be greater voter turnout, and reduced costs.
While it is difficult to predict the overall fiscal impact, there will likely be cost savings. As an example, special elections in Kootenai County cost the taxpayers $85,000 to administer.
