DEALERS AND SALESMEN LICENSING – Amends and adds to existing law to revise provisions regarding termination, cancellation, and renewal of franchise agreements and related protests, hearings, and costs.

RS30254 / H0128

This legislation seeks to strengthen the independence of Idaho’s Auto Dealers and protect the balanced contractual relationship between theses retailers and the large international manufacturers. This Legislation provides an update to Title 49 Chapter 16 of Idaho Code relating to auto dealer franchise agreements, including termination or non-renewal requirements, protest requirements and adds provisions for mediation of disputes.

There is no anticipated impact on the general fund as the state is not involved in the mediation process. Any cost for mediation is the responsibility of the Manufacturer and/or the Dealership.
