Impeding critical infrastructure
IMPEDING CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE – Adds to existing law to provide for the crime of impeding critical infrastructure, to provide penalties, to provide that aggregate damage may be a violation, to provide exceptions, and to authorize the attorney general to prosecute certain persons.

This legislation creates a penalty for impeding/damaging critical infrastructure. For individuals who plead or are found guilty of a misdemeanor for damage less than $1,000, sentencing may include up to six months in jail and a fine up to $1,000. For individuals who plead or are found guilty of a felony for damage or economic loss greater than $1,000, sentencing includes up to 10 years in a state penitentiary and a fine not to exceed the cost of damages, economic loss, or both. A separate fine of up to $100,000 exists for an individual or organization that solicits impeding/damaging critical infrastructure.
