HOUSE BILL 170
Out of committee (S 14th Ord)
State agencies, donations, sponsor
STATE GOVERNMENT – Adds to existing law to prohibit state agencies from donating to or sponsoring a nongovernmental event or organization and to provide exceptions.
RS30360C1 / H0170
This legislation prohibits state departments from donating to and or sponsoring non-governmental organizations unless specifically required by law or previously approved by the Governor. Also requires DFM to report all donations and sponsorships to the legislature.
There will be negligible fiscal impacts to state or local governments if this legislation passes because it does not create or expand any programs and does not require the expenditure of any funds. However, agencies that currently donate money to non-governmental organizations will save said funds.
