Counties opt out, health district
HEALTH – Amends existing law to provide that a county may withdraw from a public health district.

RS30554 / H0316

This bill provides the process for counties to withdraw from local public health districts. If a county withdraws from a local public health district, the county is no longer required to provide funding to the public health district, however, counties will be required to complete certain inspections previously done by the health district.

There is no impact on the General Fund. The legislation is anticipated to be revenue and cost neutral for the counties because they will no longer contribute to the public health districts and instead use the savings to conduct necessary inspections within the county budget.
