SENATE BILL 1128
RS30393 / S1128
The purpose of this bill is to reorganize and streamline crime victim services in Idaho. This bill will make it easier for crime victims and local victim service providers around the state to obtain from a single state agency the information, services, and compensation to which crime victims are entitled under Idaho’s Constitution and laws. The state agency housing the Commission of Pardons and Parole is named the Division of Public Safety. In that agency, a Bureau of Victim Services is created in which the Crime Victims Compensation Bureau currently at the Industrial Commission and the Council on Domestic Violence and Victim Assistance currently at the Department of Health and Welfare are moved. All three of these state functions have frequent contact with crime victims and already have significant cross collaboration.
