HOUSE BILL 217
Community college, bacc degrees
COMMUNITY COLLEGES – Amends existing law to authorize the establishment of certain baccalaureate degrees.
RS30412 / H0217
This legislation will allow community colleges to offer up to three Applied Bachelor’s degrees in fields with an in-demand work force. The programs will be subject to approval by the locally elected board of trustees. The goal is to create highly affordable and employable degrees.
This legislation causes no immediate expenditure of funds at the state or local level of government. It creates the opportunity for schools to create programs that will require expenditures. The state may appropriate funds for those programs if the legislature approves requests from the colleges.
