School bd trustees recall, quorum
SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARDS OF TRUSTEES – Amends existing law to revise provisions regarding school board recall elections, vacancies, and quorums.

RS30977 / H0420

This legislation provides an exception where if one or more vacancies exist on a school board, the transaction of business can still occur if a majority of members of the board are present. It also clarifies that a vacancy exists on a school district board of trustees if a recall election is successful, and when the election is certified by the board of county commissioners. Lastly, it identifies the time period in which a trustee, subject to recall, is ineligible to vote on any board matters between the period of the special recall election and when the board of county commissioners certifies the election.

This legislation causes no additional expenditure of funds at the state or local level nor does it cause an increase or decrease in revenue for state or local government. Therefore there is no fiscal impact.
