Sex offender registration
SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATION – Amends existing law to revise provisions regarding applicability.

RS30194 / S1105

This bill corrects a language error that relates to the application and rulemaking authority for the chapter of Idaho Code that relates to sex offender registration. The changes make it clear that the provisions of this chapter of code cover both persons convicted of the listed sexual crimes and those convicted of the crime of infamous crime against nature. The infamous crime against nature was removed from Code in the 2022 legislative session after it was deemed to be unconstitutional. This change would ensure that no one is removed from the registry, which was the intent of the original legislation.

There is no fiscal impact as a result of this legislation as the bill only changes two words in Idaho Code.
