SENATE BILL 1218
Failed Senate
Campaign disclosure, minimum amnts
CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION DISCLOSURES – Amends existing law to remove minimum dollar amounts for certain campaign contributions.
RS30902 / S1218
This legislation amends Idaho’s Sunshine laws for campaign finance reporting. For contributions to candidates and political committees, there is already a requirement that all donations be associated with the name of the contributor. However, currently aggregate contributions less than $50 may be reported to the secretary of state as unitemized. This legislation eliminates that provision, increases transparency and simplifies campaign finance reporting by requiring all contributions to be filed with a contributor’s name and address.
This legislation has no fiscal impact for the state of Idaho since the current campaign finance system already accommodates the reporting required in this legislation.
