Medical records, costs
MEDICAL RECORDS – Adds to existing law to establish provisions regarding medical records and costs.

RS31562 / S1395

This legislation amends Title 39, Idaho Code, to establish provisions regarding the costs for requesting copies of medical records. It provides an exception for social security act benefits and defines a fulfillment timeline. This legislation is intended to prevent price gouging when a patient requests a copy of their medical records.

No cost to the general fund is anticipated. A fee structure is provided to recover such expenses for the medical provider.
